Here are Jake, Lydia and Ben Ross with their Certificates of Appreciation for being our “Kids Choosing Kindness” recipients this month and Ann Gettis, director of Jeremiah’s Hope for Kindness.

Jake, Lydia and Ben Ross are the recipients of our new Kids Choosing Kindness Award for March 2014. Along with the incredible support and work of their mother, our friend and board member, Melanie Ross, they have been tirelessly raising awareness about bullying and working hard to ensure that the Safe & Supportive MN Schools Act is passed. They have been attending events since last summer, making posters, sharing info and Jake’s story of being bullied and getting signatures for the bill. These kids are learning that they can make a difference- that their voice matters.  I am certain they will continue to be leaders for kindness and compassion for all!!

Our awesome intern, Kerri Tune, had the pleasure of interviewing these outstanding youth at the Safe Schools Rally in the Minnesota State Capitol. Here is what she learned about our Kids Choosing Kindness Award Recipients-

Jake, Lydia and Ben Ross contribute to a better society in multiple ways with the support of their parents.  The three of them have conducted information booths at events for church, girl scouts and boy scouts. They have hosted fundraisers to help pass the anti-bullying law, volunteered countless hours at functions to teach and help others all in the hopes of making a positive impact on ending the pain bullying bring to others.

Jake is 11 years old and was directly bullied himself which created this cascade of selflessness from him and his family. He testified at the capital about how bulling affected him. At this point in life he feels he will become active in politics of some sort and wants to continue to help others.

Lydia is 10 years old. She has been dedicated to helping in as many ways as she can. She really enjoys speaking and teaching others about what can be done to help others and hopes to continue to make a difference as she grows up.

Ben is 7 years old. He really enjoys meeting the people that his siblings are active with and really enjoys asking others for their support.

Congratulations and thank you to Jake, Lydia and Ben Ross for Choosing Kindness!!  🙂
